When Start downloading is on, every map tile you
view is saved to your device. Pan and zoom around the area you want
offline — tiles are recorded as they appear on screen.
Only tiles that are actually displayed are saved.
Downloaded tiles are kept separately from the browsing cache and are not evicted automatically.
Use Show downloaded to see which tiles are already stored (red outline).
Turn Start downloading off when you are done to stop recording.
